President Hakainde Hichilema and his Malawian counterpart, Lazarus Chakwera have pledged to resolve congestion at Mwami and Mchinji one-stop border posts to ease trade between Zambia and Malawi.

President Hichilema has directed Minister of Home Affairs Jack Mwimbu to liaise with officials from Malawi to address multiple checkpoints, which are inhibiting the flow of trade between the two countries.

And the President of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera affirmed President Hichilema’s sentiments by calling for simplified immigration and customs procedures to ease the movement of goods and people.

The duo was speaking during the official opening of the Mwami, Mchinji one-stop border post in Mchinji District, Malawi. This is contained in a report published by Diamond TV.
