POLICE OFFICER DIES IN AN ACCIDENT
Two people among them a police officer have died while others sustained injuries in Mazabuka district after a Sino truck collided with a Toyota Corolla, Sunday evening.
The driver of the Corolla, Sichinga Minius aged between 35 and 40 of Plan 2000 and Andrew Lupiya, 33 (in picture), a Police Officer who was off duty, sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, says the accident happened when the driver of the truck failed to keep to his lane along the Great North Road and collided with the Toyota Corolla which was coming from the opposite direction.
Daka explained to Byta FM Zambia News that the driver of the truck escaped unhurt while his four passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated as outpatients at Mazabuka General Hospital.
According to Byta FM, Daka further disclosed that the two bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at Mazabuka General Hospital Mortuary while police are still investigating the circumstances of the road traffic accident.
