Zambia benefits from the support of many countries, and Czechia is proud to be one of them. The two nations share a long history of diplomatic and economic ties, especially since the reopening of the Czech Embassy in Zambia in 2017.
About Czechia
Czechia, located in Europe, is a member of the European Union with a population of approximately 10.7 million people—about half the size of Zambia’s population. Czechia is well-known for its advanced technology and machinery, especially in the automotive industry, and for its famous beer and wine. While Czechia is involved in humanitarian efforts worldwide, Zambia remains a top priority.
Where We Help
In recent years, Czechia has significantly increased its support to Zambia in critical areas like health, education, the economy, and social welfare, particularly through disaster management initiatives. Our diverse range of support instruments allows us to assist both small local organizations and larger, nationwide projects, even in collaboration with the European Union.
Through our work, we help the Zambian government achieve its goals and improve the livelihoods of people across the country. Our focus areas include agriculture, healthcare, and the promotion of human rights.

Building Schools, Supporting Hospitals, and EU partnership in 2024
Czechia has made a positive impact across Zambia, especially in agriculture. Through bilateral projects, we have enhanced farmers’ knowledge, helping them grow and process their products more effectively, and increase agricultural productivity. Moreover, in Western Province, we’ve promoted sustainable agricultural practices and raised awareness of biogas technology among smallholder farmers.
We also support small-scale Zambian projects. This year, we funded the construction of a secondary school in Kashitu and assisted a women’s cooperative focused on processing raw nuts and seeds into wild oils.
In 2024, Czechia joined the Team Europe Initiative for the first time, as part of an EU program aimed at sustainable forest management and reducing deforestation. This flagship development project, under the European program “Green Nexus,” is coordinated by Czechia and seeks to boost job creation, support biodiversity conservation, and achieve climate goals.
Additionally, Czechia has continued its MEDEVAC mission, where doctors and nurses from Czechia visit Zambia to provide medical assistance to vulnerable communities, particularly children needing specialized care.
