Two men, Liswaniso Liswaniso, 38, and Benjamin Liswaniso, 28, have been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for assaulting a 27-year-old man, Joshua Sakala, in Mawaya Compound, Kalomo District.

According to a statement issued to Southern Classic Media by Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka, the incident occurred on February 27, 2025, when Sakala was brutally assaulted by a mob of male persons after advising them not to sell psychotropic substances in public. Sakala sustained a swollen face, bruises on the body, and general body pains.

Mr. Daka stated that the two suspects were apprehended by police on March 2, 2025, and were jointly charged with other persons who are still on the run. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the matter came up for plea, and they admitted to the charge. The two convicted men are currently incarcerated at Kalomo Correction Facility.

The police are still searching for the other suspects who are on the run and assured the public that they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.
