An 85-year-old woman of Lusangazi district has been murdered by her grandson after she allegedly accused him of stealing Glycerin from her shop.

ELIZABETH ZULU of Sandwe village in Chief Sandwe’s area was hit with a pounding stick by MATHEWS ZULU around 15: 00 hours yesterday.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer ROBERTSON MWEEMBA says the suspect was seen coming out of his grandmother’s shop on April 13, 2025 and later she started complaining that glycerin was missing.

Mr. MWEEMBA says when Mr. ZULU heard that her grandmother was complaining about the missing glycerin and that he was the main suspect; he confronted her leading to a bitter exchange of words.

He says it was then that the suspect hit her grandmother with a pounding stick on the head and became unconscious

Mr. MWEEMBA says the deceased died from Kalindawalo General hospital in Petauke District whilst the suspect is in police custody.
