A 28-YEAR-OLD woman of Lusaka’s Mandevu Compound, Rosemary Banda has ended her life in Chipata District, Eastern Province because she has not been able to fall pregnant and bear her husband children.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba has told TV Yatu in a statement that Rosemary travelled to Chipata to see her mother, on November 3.
He says this was after she and her husband Cleoshus Mwanza of Lusaka, had a fight over her reported failure to conceive.
Mweemba says Rosemary stepped out for a while and when she returned, she told her mother Rosemary that she had taken a pesticide because she wanted to end her life because she was in an unhappy marriage owing to her failure to conceive.
Quickly, Rosemary was rushed to the hospital, where she later di£d.
