The operational landscape for Debonairs Pizza in Lusaka is set for a significant transformation following a transition from the previous operator, Retsol International Zambia. In a formal update shared directly with Zambia Reports, it has been confirmed that while the transition resulted in employment terminations across nine outlets, a structured plan is already in place to revitalize the brand’s presence in the capital.

The statement clarifies that eight of the affected stores are scheduled to reopen in June 2026 under the leadership of new, committed local franchisees. This move is described as a fresh start for the brand in Lusaka, backed by strengthened management teams dedicated to long-term stability.

Addressing concerns regarding labor law compliance, the official communication emphasizes that all franchisees are contractually obligated to meet their employment obligations in full. Firm action is reportedly being taken against the outgoing franchisee to ensure that all employment matters are addressed with the appropriate authorities according to the law.

As part of the reopening process, new positions across all eight outlets will be advertised openly. Management has indicated that applications are welcome from all qualified candidates, including former team members who meet the necessary requirements for the roles. This transition marks a shift toward a more sustainable business model aimed at navigating the current economic environment while maintaining a strong service presence in the community.

This official communication stands in contrast to unverified reports circulating on social media, which claimed mass job losses and salary discrepancies. By focusing on the details provided in the management’s original document, it is evident that the company is prioritizing a structured adjustment to its business footprint to ensure long-term stability during a period of national economic pressure.
