Police in Mazabuka have apprehended 20 people in connection with attacks on former Mazabuka Member of Parliament GARY NKOMBO.

The 20 suspected political cadres allegedly assaulted Mr. NKOMBO when he went to file his nomination as an independent parliamentary candidate.

Speaking during a media briefing in Mazabuka, Southern Province Police Commissioner MOONO NAMALONGO confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS, saying the suspects had been picked up to assist with investigations.

Mr. NAMALONGO warned that police will remain vigilant and ensure law and order are maintained throughout the electoral process ahead of the August General Election.
