A 60-YEAR-OLD man of Senga district in Northern Province has reportedly been murdered by unknown people who also burnt his body on, suspicions that he caused the death of another man.

Northern Province police commanding officer Simunji Mulonda confirmed the incident, which happened on Thursday, and named the victim as Tanaeli Mposa.

He said Mposa was attacked on suspicion that he gave beer laced with poison to Mathews Simpanje, 40, who later died.

He said investigations indicate that Simpanje and his friend Alex Simusika, 24, consumed two bottles of locally brewed beer before he became unconscious.

Mr Mulonda said Simpanje later died, while Simusika was rushed to Chikoma Ng’ombe rural health facility for medical attention.

Mr Mulonda said no arrests have been made but that investigations have been instituted into the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.

He also condemned the barbaric act of mob justice.
