Airtel Zambia Managing Director Hussam Baday has called for collective action in protecting the environment, noting that safeguarding nature is a shared duty that requires participation from both the private sector and local communities.
Speaking during the Airtel National Tree Planting initiative at Kaunda Square Secondary School, Mr. Baday announced that alongside the event in Lusaka, Airtel teams are planting 500 trees across all ten provinces of Zambia to help build climate resilience.
He stressed that businesses, schools, and individuals must work together because climate change affects agriculture, water security, and economic stability.
Also speaking at the event, Ministry of Green Economy and Environment Permanent Secretary Dr. Douty Chibamba welcomed the partnership, highlighting the importance of corporate involvement in national conservation efforts.
Addressing the students present, Mr. Baday encouraged the learners to take pride in nurturing the newly planted trees so they can grow to provide cleaner air and shade for future generations.
