Governance Activist Isaac Mwanza has advised President Hakainde Hichilema to realign the Financial Intelligence Center-FIC with the constitutional requirement to operationalize the Anti-Financial and Economic Crimes Commission.

Mr. Mwanza, who has commended President Hichilema for appointing board members of the financial intelligence center, argues that the FIC is mandated to conduct investigations into financial matters hence the need to align it with the constitution as amended.

He tells Phoenix News that the president should correct fears and accusations made by some sections of society that he was plotting to decapitate the center by delaying the appointment of board members.

Mr. Mwanza highlights that the 2016 constitutional amendments resulted in the creation of only three investigative wings namely the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Drug Enforcement Commission, and the Anti-Financial and Economic Crimes Commission.
