A STUDY has revealed that men fear being diagnosed with HIV and feel “shut out” of the health system.
A human-centred design study gathered information about the male s£xual partners of adolescent girls and young women most at risk of HIV infection and those already living with HIV.
It was revealed that there is urgent need to increase men’s knowledge and awareness of HIV and AIDS and improve health-seeking behaviour among them.
This came to light during the launch of the USAID DISCOVER Health-sponsored initiative dubbed ‘Health Hub: Men on the Move’, which is an outreach health service using a virtual healthcare model.
The USAID DISCOVER Health project aims to improve the lives of Zambians by providing them with better access to quality health care.
The project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by John Snow Incorporated (JSI), contributes towards HIV epidemic control in Zambia, while also providing integrated reproductive health and family planning, and maternal and child health services and products.
