TWO boys aged 15 and 16 have been arrested in Kitwe for stealing a motor vehicle valued at K180,000.
The two juveniles went on a drive after stealing the Toyota Mark X registration number BCF 7626 which was parked with the engine running.
Wallace Banda, 44 , a businessman, parked the vehicle at his plot in Nkana East where he had gone to check on some renovations.
Mr Banda left the engine running as he was inside the house.
After a few minutes Mr Banda went outside and noticed that his vehicle was missing.
“Mr Banda went to his plot where he had gone and left the engine running as he went inside the yard. The motor vehicle is a push to start ignition type (keyless). The complainant spent less than 20 minutes inside the yard when he received a phone call from his wife who asked him if he had given the car to someone who was driving it carelessly,” said Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba.
The police said later the boys were apprehended and the vehicle was recovered.
Mr Mweemba said the radio in the vehicle was damaged as the boys attempted to steal it.
