A man has been arrested for allegedly d£filing two girls aged five(5) and three(3) in Chama district after being offered free accommodation.

The suspect, Mwelwa Chifwabantu, 18, is an expelled grade 12 pupil of a public boarding school.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Paul Achiume has said in a statement to Chete FM News that the suspect took advantage of the girls when their parents were away on two separate occasions.

He lured them into the bedroom and had carnal knowledge of them, giving them sweets and comforting them afterwards.

The first incident occurred on 15th October, 2023 around 12:00 hours, when the girls’ mother went to church and their father went to watch a football match at the school.

The second incident occurred on 18th October 2023 around 14:00 hours, when the girls’ mother went to attend a funeral within the compound and their father went to attend the Day of National Prayer at the school.

The suspect was caught in the act by the first victim, who reported him to her mother. The mother then informed her husband, who reported the matter to the police on the same day at 23:30 hours.

The police issued the two victims with medical report forms, opened the dockets of case and instituted investigations into the matter. The suspect is in police custody.

The suspect is not a relative to the victims. He was actually expelled from school for misconduct and was only assisted with accommodation by the girls’ father out of pity.
