A 16 year old boy of Chingola’s Chiwempala area has died after being struck by lightning.

The incident occured yesterday at around 13:30hrs along Mukuba road.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the incident to RISE FM NEWS has identified the deceased as Martin Samanenga aged 16 a pupil at Chiwempala Combined School.

Mr Mweemba says the deceased left home with his friend to pickup some grass to feed the Rabbits along Mukuba road and after they finished getting the grass,it started raining and they decided to seek shelter in the corridor of a certain house along the same road.

He stated that as they were standing in the corridor, the deceased suddenly felt something struck him on the neck and both fell into the drainage.

He says the friend tried to pull up the deceased but unfortunately he couldn’t respond.

Mr Mweemba further says a good Samaritan picked them and rushed them to Chawama clinic where the deceased was pronounced dead Upon arrival.

The Commissioner narrates that Police inspected the dead body and noticed that blood was coming from the mouth and the nose,the front upper Teeth had also been removed.

He adds that the body has since been deposited to Nchanga North General Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial while the friend is receiving treatment at Chawama Clinic.
