One of the Chingola mine accident victims has been put to rest. The deceased identified as Charles Mung’onge aged 22 who was retrieved from the collapsed slug dump site on Tuesday night was put to rest at Chingola Cemetery in Chingola District.

Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Malambo and his counterpart Chipoka Mulenga who is Minister of Commerce as well as area MP for Chingola were among the mourners at the funeral.
Scores of people mostly youthful small scale miners and the family of the deceased turned up to pay their last respect to their late young miner.

Over 30 miners are believed to be trapped at Senseli mine and rescue operations coordinated by government are currently ongoing. So far, only two bodies and one person have been retrieved.

This is according to a statement issued by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit.
