A 31-year-old woman of Shiwang’andu has been murd£red allegedly by her husband for not preparing nshima for him.

Police have since arrested the husband Amos Mwansa, for allegedly murdering Felistus Bowa who has left behind an eight months old baby she had with her former husband whom she divorced.

Muchinga Province deputy police commanding officer Ronald Zambo said Bowa got married to Mwansa a month ago and all appeared fine until Saturday.

Mr Zambo said Mwansa returned home on Saturday around 21:00 hours in a drunken state and found his wife asleep. He said Mwansa checked the house for food but did not find anything which made him wake up his wife to demand for nshima.

“The wife told her husband that she did not cook which annoyed him before he started beating her using fists, kicks and slaps until she died,” Mr Zambo said.

He said the neighbours who heard Bowa shouting for help rushed to the house but found her unresponsive. Mr Zambo said Mwansa was then apprehended and taken to the police station where the report was made, prompting the officers to rush to the crime scene.

He said Bowa was found d£ad with a swollen stomach and bruises on her body, which has since been taken to Chinsali General Hospital. Mr Zambo said the suspect is in police custody awaiting postmortem.
