….as he Condemns senior party members fueling negativity in the party
Choma businessman and UPND member Vitaris Masopo says the elected leaders at ward and constituency levels need to enhance duty to interpret policies and successes of government to the people in order to bridge propaganda and facts.
Mr.Masopo tells Journalists in Choma this morning that the people in many constituencies such as the rural areas are not aware that President Hakainde Hichilema has had a benchmark for each and every year from the time UPND formed government.
Masopo explains that during the first address in 2022 President Hichilema dedicated his efforts towards restructuring Zambia’s internal and external debt while in 2023 the benchmark was to unlock rigidities in the economic sector and 2024 is dedicated towards growing country’s economy.
“People should be moving with the vision of the president so that they are not fed with propaganda from the opposition and that can only be possible if our MPs,Councilors and Mayor’s can take time to explain successes to our people.
“All discrepancies and the mischief hovering around FISP, done by illegal beneficiaries will not go unnoticed in Choma district and the country at large just like Choma DC Mr Gamela Sikaleya said a few days ago”, Mr Masopo said.
He added that the gap between the elected leaders and their electorates may create unpopularity of the ruling party if they don’t change the approach going forward.
The business man believes that there is need to grow the party’s membership by explaining attractive policies that the UPND government has put in place for the people in the last two years of it’s reign.
“We need to work towards growing our party membership by telling the people some good policies of our government, let’s avoid the negative energy in the party it’s not health,” says Masopo.
He says the farmer input support program- FISP is being abused at the expense of the poor farmers but none of the elected leaders have stood to defend our farmers from exploitation.
Masopo has further challenged councilors,Mayor’s and Members of Parliament to change their way of doing things in 2024 before they frustrate more citizens with other preoccupations.
