The government has launched a food distribution programme in Sioma District to support vulnerable households affected by drought during the last farming season.
This is in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and World Vision Zambia, with support from the European Union.
Sioma District Commissioner, Mike Kamutumwa, says 4,808 households across seven wards are receiving food hampers to help sustain them over the next two months.
Meanwhile, World Vision Manager for the Senanga and Sioma Cluster Area Programme, Mundia Mwangala, said the selection process prioritized the most vulnerable households to ensure those in greatest need received assistance.
