A tragic road traffic accident near Chongwe town on Friday morning claimed the life of a man believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, while his four-year-old child miraculously survived.
The deceased, whose identity has not yet been established, was described as medium height, dark complexion, with a shaved bald haircut. At the time of the accident, he was wearing a maroon shirt, blue jeans, and a khaki hood.
According to reports, the man and his child were traveling from Chipata to Lusaka in a privately owned vehicle when the accident occurred. They are believed to have been hitchhiking. The child, who sustained injuries, was rushed to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Pediatric Unit for treatment, while the father’s body has been taken to Chongwe Hospital Mortuary.
Hospital authorities, in collaboration with the Zambia Police, are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the child’s relatives. Anyone with information is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Levy Mwanawasa UTH Public Relations Unit at 0972 831601 or 0979 694675.
