Kelvin Kaunda says the fight against corruption crusade that the New Dawn Administration has been propagating means nothing.

The Socialist Party National Youth Chairperson for Security said the current system is incoherently corrupt.

Mr Kaunda stressed the need for government not to only deal with matters of the past when fighting corruption.

He said this yesterday when he featured on Muvi TV’s “The Assignment.”

“The current system is incoherently corrupt. That is the reason why the President told us during a press conference that he had to call one minister to find out what they were carrying because the current system is incoherently corrupt,” he said.

“When you are dealing with a subject of corruption, it should not only be historical, it must also be current and futuristic. So while you are grabbing houses to these individuals who served in the past what are you doing with the subject of corruption currently? Are you making calls to ask your own about what they are carrying? We want to know.”

Mr Kaunda further questioned what government’s position is with the various current deals including that of the CEC contract with ZESCO regarding the fight against the said vice.

He stressed the need for developing a plan on how to deal with the corruption of the future.

“What has happened to the CEC contract with ZESCO which has now been reduced into a state secret? The Zambian people still want to know about the $50 million fertilizer deal, the single sourcing. The Zambian people still want to know about the 107,000 contract to supply poles with the Zimbabwean company,” he said.

“So we should not only approach the issue of corruption based on the historical issues no. we must also have the courage to deal with the current issues. And we must also be developing a plan on how to deal with the corruption of the future. The subject of corruption is an evergreen subject. The corruption crusade we are seeing means nothing.”
