Lusaka, Zambia – As we celebrate Youth Day tomorrow,, as Youth Advocate, am compelled to address the disturbing trend of hate speech and abusive language targeted at the highest office of the land. The recent behavior of “Why Me” is particularly concerning, and I strongly condemn the use of such language.
As a youth advocate, I believe that young people have a tendency to want to be heard when facing trauma or grief. However, this does not justify the use of hate speech or abusive language. I urge “Why Me” to undergo counseling to address any underlying issues and to reform his behavior.
It is alarming that barely a month after being released from prison, “Why Me” has returned to old vomits. This cycle of behavior must be broken, and I call upon all stakeholders to support “Why Me” in their rehabilitation Centres.
I also remind those who are happy with “Why Me’s” behavior to desist from encouraging such actions. Instead, let us work together to help “Why Me” become a better youth and a positive contributor to our society.
As we celebrate Youth Day, I urge all young people to prepare and rise up to be more responsible. Let us not allow anyone to use us for violence or hate speech that may divide our country. Instead, let us work together to build a vibrant and positive future for Zambia.
