A journalist from Wave FM Radio Station was allegedly attacked by four individuals while on duty covering a women’s empowerment event in Konkola area, Chief Hanjalika, Mazabuka.

According to a statement issued by Southern Division Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka, the incident occurred on March 7, 2025, at around 14:30 hours, when Hope Chooma, 32, of Highlanders, Mazabuka, was assaulted by Chrispin Moonga, along with three women identified as Anna Nyambe, Pascalina Namachila, and Sonia Palanga.

Mr. Chooma was providing media coverage for Nachombi Kabunda, a businesswoman known for supporting women financially and materially, when the attack happened.

The victim sustained a cut on the back of his neck and general body pains after being physically assaulted with fists and force.

Police have since opened a docket of case for Assáult Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code, CAP 87 of the Laws of Zambia. However, no arrests have been made as investigations continue.

Mr. Chooma was issued a medical report, which has yet to be returned to the police station.
