A consortium of civil society organizations has opposed the government’s proposed amendment of the constitution, saying the reforms are not just inadequate but risk undermining the very principles of democracy, justice, and inclusivity that the constitution must uphold.
The CSOs have said their opposition to the reforms is not out of obstructionism, but because the process and substance fall disastrously short of what a legitimate, people-centered constitutional reform process demands.
This was said during a press briefing at Action Aid Zambia in Lusaka.
