The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Health and Gender Department, with support from partners, has today successfully evacuated a young girl from Solwezi with a rare skin condition for specialized medical treatment in Lusaka.

Faith Mwanza, 18, has been flown to Lusaka, where she will receive specialized care. Faith has been facing significant challenges due to her condition, which was identified by the Solwezi Gender Department.

Through the Government’s partnership with various partners, arrangements were made for her evacuation.

Speaking when bidding farewell at the airport this morning, Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Luckson Mulumbi said the Government stands ready to ensure that Faith is given proper healthcare services for her condition.

“As Government, we are committed to ensuring the welfare of our citizens. We will continue collaborating with various partners in providing healthcare services to the Zambian people, and North-Western Province in particular,” said Mr. Mulumbi.

He acknowledged and thanked various partners for facilitating the evacuation and ensuring Faith receives the medical attention she requires.

Speaking earlier, the Ministry of Health, through North-Western Provincial Health Director Dr. Luckson Chidikita, assured the family of the girl that all necessary arrangements have been made for her treatment in Lusaka.

“Government will continue to monitor her progress and ensure that she receives the best possible care,” said Dr. Chidikita.
