The US government has launched a 14-million dollar Business Enabling Project initiative designed to spur economic development in Zambia.
The five year programme launched through the U.S. Agency for International Development -USAID- is subject to appropriations.
The project focused on the development of rural communities, will generate incentives for private-sector investments in agriculture, eco-tourism, energy, sustainable natural resource management, and trade across Zambia.
It will also expand women’s economic participation.
A statement to ZNBC News by USAID Press Relations Office said the project seeks to unleash the power of Zambia’s women entrepreneurs by targeting legislation, procedures, and regulations that hinder women’s access to finance and their ability to own and expand businesses.
The Press relations Office further states that the USAID Business Enabling Project will strengthen communication across the Zambian government, private sector, and civil society.
The USAID notes that Zambia will be open for U.S. investment and is well positioned for increased two-way trade by driving innovation and digital solutions to the country’s most challenging business roadblocks.
