Another 29-Year-Old Chama District Man Survives Hippo AttackBy White Luhanga Barely two days after a 30-year-old man survived a severe hippo attack in the Luangwa River, another 29-year-old man from the same area has survived a hippo attack while fishing in the river, in Chief Chifunda’s Chiefdom, Chama District of Eastern Province.
Chilenje Ward Councilor Carlos Zimba confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with Kwenje Radio News.
He identified the victim as Lazarus Sakala of Kasinkhanya village.
Mr Zimba says the victim was attacked by a hippo yesterday around 04:00 hours while fishing in the Luangwa River.
He says the victim was rescued by two men, identified as Milly Lungu and Gift Sakala, who rushed him to Chifunda Clinic and later referred him to Lundazi District Hospital. Mr Zimba added that the victim sustained injuries to his legs and stomach. He says the victim is currently admitted at Lundazi District Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Councilor urged people to take precautionary measures when engaging in such activities, which he said endangers their lives.
