A 10-Year-Old girl has been allegedly dèfiled by her 56-year-old stepfather in Chief Msoro in Mambwe District of Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, which he said occurred between June 2025 at an unknown time and 15th August 2025 at 15:00 hrs.
Brief facts of the matter are that on Tuesday, 12th August, 2025, around 07:00 hrs, the victim’s mother went to Lameck Village in Lusangazi District to attend a traditional marriage ceremony and left the victim in the custody of her aunt.
He says on Friday, 15th August, 2025, around 07:00 hrs, the suspect followed the victim to her aunt’s house and persuaded her to go with him home. The victim accepted and went with the accused to their house without the knowledge of the aunt.Mr Mweemba says that later on while at home, the accused forced the minor into his matrimonial bedroom, dèfiled her, and told her not to tell anyone what had happened.
He says on Monday, 18th August, 2025, around 11:00 hrs, the victim disclosed the matter to her aunt. The aunt informed her mother, who had just come back from Lusangazi District.
The Police Commissioner says the mother Immediately checked her daughter on the private parts and observed whitish substance on the private parts and also discovered that she had bruised private parts.
He says when asked, the husband denied having carnal knowledge of his stepdaughter.
Mr Mweemba says the victim was taken to Kapili Songola Health Centre for medical examinations, where it was confirmed that carnal knowledge had taken place.
He says bruises and blood stains were observed on the private parts.
He says a police medical report was issued to the victim and that the suspect is in police custody pending further investigations.
