The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is set to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with key government ministries as part of a joint effort to restore the country’s football standards.

FAZ General Secretary, Machacha Shepande, explained that the agreement will bring together the Ministries of Education; Youth, Sport and Arts; and Local Government and Rural Development to work closely with FAZ.

He described the MoU as a turning point for the game, stressing that past decisions taken more than 15 years ago continue to weigh heavily on football development in the country.

Mr. Shepande also pointed to the weak link between FAZ and school-level football as one of the major reasons behind the sport’s decline.

He assured that, with his experience, he is determined to rebuild the structures that will give Zambia a chance to qualify for the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cups.
