Opposition Economic Front President Winter Kabimba has urged the Zambian government and the Lungu family to resolve disputes over the burial site of former President Edgar Lungu outside the courts.

Speaking on Diamond TV’s Diamond Live program, Mr. Kabimba said both parties should step back from litigation and clearly state their goals.

He stressed that since Mr. Lungu did not die as a private citizen, the matter carries public interest and should be handled with broader national considerations.

Mr. Lungu died on June 5, 2025, in South Africa, but disagreements over his final resting place remain unresolved.

Meanwhile, the South African funeral parlour keeping Mr. Lungu’s body has warned that prolonged storage increases the risk of deterioration, which could occur at any time.
