Chawama aspiring Member of Parliament, Timothy Kantenga, has called on women to prioritize family unity, health, and safety in their daily lives.

Kantenga made the call during the Munali Presbytery Fellowship of Women conference held at Katuba under the theme “Partners in Mission.”

Addressing hundreds of women, Kantenga emphasized the importance of fostering unity in homes and upholding faithfulness in marriage.

He encouraged women to allow men to take responsibility for providing for their families and to avoid extramarital affairs, instead nurturing strong family bonds built on trust and honesty.

Kantenga expressed concern over rising cases of domestic violence and the tragic loss of lives due to minor disagreements.

He advised women not to remain in abusive marriages, stressing that the safety of both mothers and children must come first. He also called on the church to play a central role in addressing these challenges by promoting prayer, counseling, and mutual support.

On health matters, Kantenga encouraged women living with HIV/AIDS and other conditions to remain hopeful, citing the effectiveness of modern medicines in prolonging life.

He cautioned against stigmatization of people living with HIV and urged the community to show compassion. He also raised awareness about common health risks such as fibroids, high blood pressure, and the dangers of harmful beauty products.

Drawing from his own experience, Kantenga shared how quitting alcohol improved his health and financial stability.

He encouraged women to follow medical advice, cut back on sugary and alcoholic drinks, and adopt healthier habits such as regular exercise.

In a gesture of support, Kantenga donated K10,000 towards food for the conference. His contribution and teachings were warmly appreciated by Munali Presbyterian Church President, Margaret Banda, who reflected on the importance of health awareness by sharing her own loss of a loved one to sugar-related illness.

The conference was marked by lively discussions, prayer, and a renewed commitment among women to strengthen families and communities through faith, healthy living, and unity.
