Luapula Province Minister, Eng. Nason Musonda, has raised concern over the conduct of some opposition Members of Parliament in the province, accusing them of frustrating government efforts to deliver development through the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking on One Love Radio’s Kickstart programme in Mansa on Tuesday morning, Eng. Musonda said it was disappointing that certain MPs are choosing to play politics instead of working in harmony with the government to improve the lives of their constituents.
“It is unfortunate that some constituencies continue to lag behind in development, despite receiving the same annual CDF allocation of K36.1 million as others. This clearly shows a lack of commitment and cooperation from some leaders,” he said.
The minister urged local councils to prioritize the improvement of feeder roads, particularly in agricultural areas, noting that roads such as Lwela, Matanda, and Musaila remain in a poor state despite the availability of CDF resources. He added that only a few roads fall under the jurisdiction of the Roads Development Agency (RDA), and the rest should be addressed at the local level.
Eng. Musonda stressed that the current focus must be on delivering development, not engaging in political maneuvering.
“The time for politics will come after Parliament is dissolved next year. Right now, our focus should be on development. Our people deserve results, not rhetoric,” he said.
