A 13 year old boy of Mungwi District has died after falling and drowning in the sewer ponds of Mungwi Technical High school.
Northern Province Police Commanding Officer LUCKY MUNKONDYA has disclosed the sad development to Mano News, noting that the incident occurred between Sunday 31st August 2025 and Friday 5th September 2025.
Ms. MUNKONDYA says the deceased was an epileptic patient who usually loitered around the district on a daily basis.
She says on Saturday 31st August 2025 the boy was with his family from morning until at about 1500 Hours when went missing.
Ms. MUNKONDYA notes that sadly yesterday at around 1400 hours, he was discovered floating in the sewer ponds by some children who were passing nearby.
The children then alerted members of the public.
The victim’s mother went to the scene and identified him and she later reported the matter at the police station.
Ms. MUNKONDYA says the police visited the scene and engaged the fire brigade who then retrieved the body from the sewer ponds.
She says physical inspection was conducted and no physical injuries were observed.
The body was in a semi decomposed stateNo foul play was suspected by neither the police nor the family.
