A police officer in Mazabuka has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 6-year-old stepdaughter, leaving her with serious injuries to her private parts. The alleged abuse reportedly occurred multiple times over a period of several days.

According to a Police Press Statement issued by Southern Province Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka, Mazabuka Central Police Station received the report on September 26, 2025, at 22:14 hours. The complaint was lodged by a 32-year-old woman of Motel Compound, who is the mother of the victim and has been cohabiting with the accused since May 2025.

Police say the alleged incidents occurred between September 21 and September 26, 2025, at an unmarked residence in Motel Compound.

Brief facts of the case indicate that on September 21, the complainant left her daughter in the care of her partner while she went to work. Upon returning home that night, she found the accused lying in the same bed with the child, dressed only in boxer shorts. When questioned, the officer claimed the child was afraid to sleep alone.

The situation escalated on September 26, when the child complained of itching in her private parts. Upon examining her, the mother noticed unusual discharge. After being questioned, the child revealed that the accused had been sexually abusing her during the times her mother was away.

Police responded promptly and apprehended the suspect, who is currently in lawful custody. A medical report form was issued, and the child was taken to Mazabuka General Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination.
