Longacres Police Post recorded a slight-injury road traffic accident that occurred on September 28, 2025, around 17:30 hours at the Addis Ababa Roundabout.
The accident involved two vehicles. A Mercedes Benz driven by Richard Mpolokoso, 28, of Kabanana Site and Service. The vehicle was extensively damaged, and the driver sustained slight injuries.
The other vehicle, a Toyota Spacio driven by Kabinda Kasuba, 44, of Kwamwena, had damage to the rear right bumper and fender.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when the driver of a Mercedes-Benz, due to excessive speed, lost control and collided with a Toyota Spacio. The impact caused the Mercedes-Benz to hit the traffic circle pillars and eventually overturn.
It was later established that the driver, a local mechanic hired to repair the vehicle, was unlicensed.He will be charged with dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcóhol, and driving without a licence.
Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle (Mercedes-Benz) will also face charges for permitting an unlicensed driver, contrary to Sections 56(1), (2), and (3) of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.
