MMC DISPOSES ALCOHOL WORTH K7,500
Mongu Municipal Council (MMC) has disposed of assorted alcoholic beverages valued at K7,500, along with other assorted items, from illegal traders operating in the district.
This action follows a routine inspection carried out on 9th and 10th September 2025 by MMC Public Health Inspectors in Kapulanga, Winela, and Chisonga areas of Mongu District.
The operation is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal alcohol sales and to ensure that public safety standards are upheld in the trading environment.
The confiscation was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Liquor Licensing Act No. 20 of 2011, which regulates the distribution and sale of liquor in Zambia.
The local authority is urging business entities and liquor traders to comply with the provisions of the law and to operate legally.
We also appeal to the general public to refrain from purchasing or consuming alcohol from unlicensed and illegal trading outlets, as this poses a serious risk to their health.
