Brief facts of the matter are that, on 25/10/25 at around 14:00 hours, M/Choongo Rugnath who is also an active smoker went drinking with his friend and came back home around 22:00 hours. He found his wife Chiyesu Otria and their daughter F/Choongo Mumba already sleeping. M/Choongo Rugnath and the child slept on one bed while his wife also slept on a different bed in the same bedroom. At around 23:00 hours, neighbors heard someone calling for help and when they rushed there, they discovered that one of the rooms of the house was burning and both doors were locked.
They forced entry into the house and the victims were found severely burnt gasping for air and their daughter had already died whilst the duo were quickly rushed to Loloma Mission Hospital for medical attention. However on 26/10/25 at around 07:00 hours, the duo were also pronounced dead. All the three (3) bodies were deposited in Loloma Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination and burial.Inquiry file has since been opened and investigations into the matter launched as the source of fire has not yet been established.
This is according to the statement released by North-western Police Commissioner Brighton Siwale.
