The blackout comes amid growing tensions, with opposition supporters taking to the streets in protest over what they call a “one-sided election, denouncing what they see as political favouritism, intimidation, and suppression of free speech.
Security has been tightened in key cities, including Dar es Salaam, as reports of clashes between police and demonstrators emerge.
