Another fire has swept through Chamboli Market in Kitwe in the early hours of Saturday, destroying two shops and more than 25 makeshift stores.
Kitwe City Council Public Relations Manager Mwaka Nakweti says preliminary investigations indicate that an electrical short circuit may have sparked the fire.
Ms. Nakweti says fire brigades from the local authority and Mopani Copper Mines responded swiftly and managed to contain the inferno.
She says the losses recorded include electronics, groundnuts, and various other goods.
Ms. Nakweti adds that Police have since launched investigations into the incident.
This marks the fourth market fire recorded in Copperbelt Province since January this year.
