Zambians are anxious to see unity of purpose among the opposition with the aim of having one Presidential candidate ahead of 2026 general elections.
Looking at time before the general elections, it is politically correct to say the only opposition political parties currently known countrywide are,
1.. *Patriotic Front*
2.. *Citizens First*
3.. *Socialist Party*
*President Harry Kalaba* has been consistent in showing willingness to work with other political parties in line with what the Zambian people want which is unity of purpose among opposition.
Therefore our strong position as *CF YOUTH WING* is to call the leadership of the *Patriotic Front Party and Socialist Party* to see the need of urgently merging with the *Citizens First Party* and give the Zambian people hope, ahead of 2026.
To you the *YOUTH CHAIRPERSONS* of al opposition political parties remember that political freedom without economic freedom but punctuated with injustices, oppression and suppression is useless the more reason we must be fired up demanding that our leaders unite to form one movement in our quest to liberate Zambians.
Enough of giving lip service about alliances, it’s time for serious business of assembling a movement that is strong on the ground with solid structures countrywide.
I urge leaders of the aforementioned political parties to adhere to calls from citizens and focus on the national agenda anchored on unity of purpose meant to liberate Zambians as compared to focusing on personal interests attached to positions.
I implore the leadership of the *Patriotic Front and Socialist Party* to urgently begin mapping the way forward with the *Citizens First Party* and the rest of opposition political parties should join the movement, those who choose to be stubborn can remain and Zambians will deal with them.
Since 2021 it’s been extremely difficult to form a strong *OPPOSITION ALLIANCE* because some newly formed political parties that only exist on paper, facebook and other social media platforms overrate themselves with outrageous demands taking advantage of selfishness from leaders that belong to already established political parties as a result of there insatiable appetite to become President making it difficult for alliances to flourish.
Let’s not cheat one another here, if the above three political parties won’t unite and give as one movement ahead of 2026 then let’s forget about it and perhaps start preparing for 2031 but that will be betrayal to our friends in prison and exile above all the Zambian people whose hope is in the opposition.
I beseech the Church, Traditional leaders, Human rights activists, NGO’s to engage the leadership of the three political parties and come up with a solid movement that will be all inclusive and ready take on upnd come August 2026.
There is literally no time to start experimenting and if we, the *YOUTH* seat with our legs crossed and hands folded not pushing our leaders to unite then we are betraying the efforts of our founding father late *Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda and his colleagues* who showed bravely that led to Zambia gaining independence.
It’s our duty as young people to ensure that the future of our nation and it’s resources is well protected to benefit many more generations to come.
I implore PF *acting President Given Lubinda and Socialist Party President Dr. Fred Membe* to urgently see the need of merging with the Citizens First *President Dr. Harry Kalaba* so that we can have a movement that will begin hitting the ground hard ahead of 2026.
I urge fellow young people to gather courage in large numbers and demand that our leaders should unite so that we can have a movement that will carry everyone along ahead of 2026.
*MAXWELL CHONGU*
CF National Youth Chairman.
