Ex-Convict Kills Wife’s Lover in PetaukeA man in Petauke has gone into hiding after allegedly stabbing his wife’s lover to death following a confrontation on Wednesday night.
Police say Vincent Makumbi Lungu, recently released from prison after serving a stock-theft sentence since 2021, attacked and killed 35-year-old Limbikani Njobvu at Mwambulazumba Village.
Lungu reportedly went to visit his wife, Mercy Phiri, 30, whom he had recently reconciled with. Upon entering the house, he found Njobvu — the man Mercy had been seeing during Lungu’s imprisonment. An argument broke out and escalated into a fight, during which Lungu allegedly stabbed Njobvu twice in the chest.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, saying officers found the victim’s body in a pool of blood outside the house. He added that a manhunt has been launched as the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle and has not been seen since.
The body has been taken to Kalindawalo General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem. Police have opened a murder docket as investigations continue.
