A tragic drowning incident has been reported in Lundazi, where an eight-year-old girl has died after falling into a well.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirms that the incident occurred yesterday in Tigone area under Chief Mphamba. The juvenile is reported to have gone out to play with friends when she accidentally fell into a well between 12 and 15 hours.
She was retrieved alive and rushed to Lundazi District Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The body has since been taken to the mortuary awaiting a postmortem and burial arrangements.
