An unknown person has dumped a human foetus in Jere Kamunzi Compound, Chipata District, prompting police investigations.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred between 14th and 16th January 2026 at an unknown time.
Mr. Mweemba said that 20-year-old Omega Nyati discovered the foetus while cutting flowers along a hedge fence in the compound.
Police report that the foetus, believed to be three to four months old, had its stomach and genitals eaten away, making it impossible to determine its sex.
The foetus was taken to Chipata Central Hospital, where it was confirmed to be human and later prepared for incineration.
He added that the suspect is not yet known, and investigations have been launched to bring the responsible person to justice.
