President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged public officials to put citizens’ needs before personal interests.

President HICHILEMA says this is key to improving the quality of life for all Zambians.

He has called on citizens to work together and contribute to national development in order to unlock the country’s full potential.

The President says politics must be grounded in service to the people.

He adds that he will continue engaging citizens from all walks of life, as he has done over the past four years, to build a shared vision for inclusive development.

President HICHILEMA has also outlined achievements recorded since the UPND took office, including the reopening of Mulungushi Textiles, which reflects the administration’s drive to deliver development across the country.

He says free education has enabled more than 2.5 million children to return to school, with 41,917 newly recruited teachers deployed to classrooms.

The President notes that the Constituency Development Fund has increased from 1.6 million Kwacha per constituency in 2021 to 40 million Kwacha in 2026.

He says this expansion has channelled resources directly to local communities.

President HICHILEMA says this has resulted in the construction of more than 2,800 classroom blocks, 164 health facilities, 860 kilometres of feeder roads, and 1,792 boreholes across the country.

He further says the health sector has been strengthened through the recruitment of over 18,000 health workers, completion of 279 health facilities, and improved availability of essential medicines.

The President says these gains reflect a government focused on serving all citizens and promoting unity and shared purpose.

He says Zambians will go to the polls on August 13, 2026 to decide whether to continue on the current development path or reverse the progress made.

President HICHILEMA has also expressed gratitude to citizens for their patience and resilience, noting that results from reforms introduced over the past four and a half years are beginning to show.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by State House Chief Communication Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA.
