MINISTER of Water Development and Sanitation Collins Nzovu today bid farewell to ministry staff and the nation ahead of the dissolution of Parliament and Cabinet on May 15, 2026, while urging public workers to remain committed to delivering water and sanitation services to citizens across the country after his departure from office.

Speaking during a farewell media briefing at the Ministry headquarters in Lusaka, Mr Nzovu thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for giving him the opportunity to serve as Zambia’s first Minister of Water Development, describing the Head of State as a leader who restored hope, direction and purpose to the country at a critical time in its development journey.

Mr Nzovu commended the ministry employees for their dedication and professionalism, noting that achievements recorded during his tenure, including the drilling of boreholes, rehabilitation of dams, expansion of water supply schemes and improvement of sanitation systems, were only possible because of the collective efforts of workers at every level within the institution nationwide.

He further noted that cooperation among institutions improved over time, adding that the collective efforts were aimed at serving the people of Zambia and strengthening the ministry’s responsibility of delivering safe water and sanitation services.
