In a significant move to bolster national security, the Government of the People’s Republic of China has officially handed over a fleet of 80 motor vehicles to Zambia’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.

The donation is specifically aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies as the country prepares for the upcoming 2026 General Elections.The official handover ceremony, held in Lusaka, was attended by top security officials, including Home Affairs Minister Hon. Jack Mwiimbu, the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, H.E. Han Jing, Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba, and the Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission, Mr. Nason Banda.During the event, Hon. Jack Mwiimbu expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government, describing the intervention as a vital boost for the mobility and visibility of the country’s security wings.

He emphasized that effective policing relies heavily on preparedness and responsiveness, noting that the new fleet will address long-standing transportation challenges and improve service delivery across various security agencies.Chinese Ambassador Han Jing reaffirmed his country’s dedication to deepening bilateral relations, stating that the donation serves as a symbol of mutual trust and a shared commitment to regional stability. He expressed confidence that the vehicles would play a crucial role in maintaining public peace and security.Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba also welcomed the gesture, highlighting that the increased mobility would allow the Zambia Police Service to respond more effectively to crime.

He specifically pointed to the enhanced ability to tackle transnational threats, such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, and human trafficking, promising that the vehicles would be managed with the highest levels of professional accountability and integrity.The ceremony concluded by highlighting the enduring partnership between Zambia and China, which continues to focus on mutual respect and the shared goal of sustainable national development and security.
