Three armed robbers have stolen a vehicle at gun point from a Chipata business woman in Eastrise township before shooting a mechanic.
Apart from the Toyota Vitz registration number ARB 7266, the three masked robbers also went away with three phones and a laptop all valued at K157, 000.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba said the incident occurred around 17:00 hours yesterday when the victim Onesta Chulu aged 27 had just arrived home from her business.
Mr Mweemba said before going home, the victim picked her children from school and dropped off her mother at her place within the same compound.
He said the masked men waylaid her at her gate where they ordered her to disembark from the vehicle at gunpoint before removing all the three children from the car.
Mr Mweemba said the robbers also shot a mechanic who was engaged by the victim to work on one of her vehicles.
He said Daniel Phiri was shot on the back as he tried to hide when he heard some gunshots outside the gate.
Mr Mweemba said the police have instituted investigations into the matter and will bring the culprits to book.
