Two South African men, aged 22 and 27, are in custody following their arrest by the Phalaborwa Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for the alleged statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl. The investigation began after the teenager’s father noticed an unidentified man frequently dropping her off at their residence. After checking the minor’s mobile phone and finding evidence of sexual interactions with three different men, the father reported the situation to law enforcement.

Following the report and a medical evaluation of the victim, officers successfully apprehended two of the suspects. Police are currently working to track down the third individual involved. The two men already in custody are set to face statutory rape charges at the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court on June 12, 2026. In response to the arrests, Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the team for their rapid response and reaffirmed the department’s dedication to safeguarding children from abuse.
