The Zambia Police Service in Senga Hill district, Northern Province, has launched investigations and intensified a manhunt following a murder incident that occurred yesterday, around 08:00 hours in Ilola village.

Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says police received a report from Isaac Simfukwe, aged 32, who stated that his brother, Denis Simfukwe, aged 55, of the same village, was allegedly attacked and killed by named suspects.

Mr. Chilabi says police officers visited and processed the scene, where they found the body of the deceased lying in a field.

He says preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was attacked after being accused of practicing witchcraft and sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

Mr. Chilabi notes that the suspects, who are currently at large, have been identified as Collins Sikapizye, Gaston Sikapizye, Shadrick Silutongwe, Vinyepe Sikapizye, Mamvuto Sikapizye, and one other unidentified individual, all from Ilola village, Senga Hill.

Mr. Chilabi says the body of the deceased is lying in the mortuary at mbala general hospital, pending a post-mortem examination.
