Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia President Joy Beene says he is disappointed with remarks by opposition National Reconciliation Party for Unity leader Brian Mundubile that he will fire some civil servants if his party forms government.

Mr. Beene says Civil servants work with the Government of the day, regardless of the political party in power.

He has told ZNBC News in an interview that threatening civil servants shows a lack of understanding for their role in public service.

He has urged Civil servants to be careful as they vote in the forthcoming general election.

Meanwhile in a separate interview, Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia -FFTUZ- Secretary General Nelson Mwale urged civil servants to remain non-partisan in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. Mwale added that maintaining political neutrality is essential to preserving public confidence and ensuring the effective delivery of public services.
